Simulating life. Atom by atom.Welcome to the SIMBIOS group at the University of Santiago de Compostela.
We develop a multidisciplinary research program that examines molecular systems through a biophysical lens, combining in-silico methods with wet-lab biophysical measurements. By integrating molecular modeling, multiscale simulation and data-driven analysis, we explore how structure and dynamics shape biological function.
This framework is applied to investigate the CAIn triangle — the molecular links connecting cancer, infection, and aging — with chronic inflammation as their central convergence point.
To deepen this understanding, the group generates experimentally validated synthetic datasets and complements them with omics data and physico-chemical molecular information, enabling both natural and artificial intelligence to reveal mechanistic insight in scenarios where empirical evidence is incomplete or difficult to obtain.
Our long-term ambition is to translate these principles into innovative diagnostic, therapeutic, and technological avenues for disorders in which chronic inflammation plays a defining role.
